geisha

G e i s h a

I bought these incredible shoes in Chinatown about a week ago. They remind me of all of the shoes in my favourite Japanese magazine, 'PopTeen' which I blogged about ages ago here. So glad they are finally mine! I wore them out last night and felt like a geisha, but I didn't fall over so I'm rather proud. I think they will look super cute with socks too like this!

sweater clips!

S w e a t e r C L I P S

The other week I bought the most beautiful 60's sweater clips from etsy store VintageEnvy
which has the most wonderful collection of 60's brooches, earrings and of course sweater clips!
I first saw these on the blog Amateur Coture, and knew I had to have them.
They are such a cute addition to an outfit, I loved how they looked in the 60's and I love them how they today with a modern outfit. I think I will buy myself a blue cardigan to wear with these...maybe a vintage cashmere one! Very appropriate.

saddle shoes!

R a c h e l A n t o n o f f

s a d d l e s h o e
obsession!

My brogues (above)

This is a mini outfit post in the hopes of making up for not blogging lately--- I've been pretty much in bed sick for the past two weeks, I had a virus.
On a happier note, summer is almost over here, and I'm starting university next week how exciting! It's due to this that I've started thinking about autumn/ winter-ey, flat shoes that I can wear to uni and the first thing that came to mind was a pair of beautiful brogues (Tennesse Thomas is much to blame!)

So yesterday I was with my best friends around china town and I found the perfect pair of brogues! They are reminiscent of saddle shoes which is a plus, and the colour is just what I wanted. I had to get them. I also liked that they reminded me of Rachel Antonoff's collaboration with shoe brand Bass shoes (pictured below and modeled by ms. Thomas herself).

These shoes are featured in Rachel Antonoff's A/W 2011 collection as well. If you haven't already seen the collection (which she previewed by throwing a mock prom in a high school auditorium in New York) I suggest looking it over- the clothes are just so beautiful, and the idea of having a mock prom...amazing!

I'll do a post about it soon, I already have a full folder full of pictures of my favourite trombone printed pieces from the collection...but for now I'll give you a preview of the beautiful saddle shoes she dressed the prom- going models in!

A cooler s u m m e r outfit !

shorts: Blue Juice, Stockings- Target, Cardigan- vintage.
The weather has been so hot here in Australia the past couple of days, but I took these few photos last week when the weather was a bit more forgiving.
At the moment Ive been working a lot, so I haven't had much time to be to inspired by anything, fashion wise. The only thing I am being inspired by at the moment is summer itself. Summer is really making me think of investing a pair of white espadrilles, a la Alexa Chung. They are such sweet shoes that go so well with flowy dresses and denim cut-offs. I hope everyone's holidays are going well, I'm planning a little summer inspiration post shortly!

A low-key w e e k e n d outfit!

O u t f i t # t w o !
I wore this outfit to Bondi Junction shopping center the other day, which was exciting as it was the first time I got to wear my new Secret Squirrel skirt!
I'm not one for visiting Westfield's, as pretty much every clothing store has exactly the same products, which isn't very inspiring at all. Bondi Junction, however is very exciting.
They have some really amazing shops which you can't find in every shopping center (read: Gormans- for beautiful clothes and Papaya- for the prettiest homewears ever...we bought our christmas tree from there!)
It was a lovely day, I LOVE the shops around Christmas time, everything is so shiny and happy.

Headband: Sportsgirl

birthday things!

('Scarlett' perfume, by Cacharel -above-)
( and... my book of love from my friends-below-)
B i r t h d a y l o v e !
I apologize for being a deadbeat blogger lately, school is now going in to overdrive and we all really have to work now...come October school will be over- forever! Scary! Anyway, I thought I would show you a few ( very few) of the lovely things I received for my eighteenth birthday on the 1st of July!
My brother got me the perfume 'Scarlett' by Cacharel. I've loved the purfume for ages and ages---it smells so beautiful and the bottle is so pretty! I also love the ad's, styled by Editor-in-chief of Lula magazine (and my personal hero) Leigth Clarke.
My best friends got all of my other friends to write a little message to me for my birthday and they created a beautiful eighteenth birthday book for me--- I absoultey love it!
My parents got me another pair of Funkis clogs---a black pair which I have been wearing constantly for the past two weeks.
Bri + Andrew at Secret Squirrel gave me this amazing sequined cardigan from their autumn/winter range. It's the perfect thing to wear out over a pretty dress when going out these cold nights!
I love all the people who made my birthday so special--thanks guys!

my babies!

F u n k i s S a n d a l C l o g s !

On the weekend, I finally bought what has been haunting my mind ever since the start of summer last year! I don't really know what to call them...wooden sandals? I just love them. They are just perfect! They are from this Swedish homewears/fashion shop called Funkis. Luckily they have a few stockists in Sydney so I was able to get them! When I got home from buying them, I showed my dad to which he said (in his famous Swedish accent) "You know Loran, your grandmother in Sweden has those exact same ones. Are they Funkis? She wears them all the time- they are such old lady shoes"
Then call me an old lady, I say! I look so forward to wearing them with lots of chambray and white and tights and socks!
H0pefully the purchase of my new favourite shoes will subside all the sandal/clog talk on the blog for a while!

In other news::: I have gotten a few lovelies in the past couple of days- an amazing fashion week!! I got my favourite chambray Secret Squirrel dress, and a that leopard print cardigan from Cotton On that one of my readers so nicely suggested to me!

Pictures later!

au revoir ♥

T o d a y !
Today was a nice, chilled day. It was a proper Autumn day, and it was also the first time in a long time that I was able to crack out my old favourite striped top. I got a little inspired by the above images, and the fact that yesterday I tried on a nice little blue striped dress that I think I shall buy at a later date. I was also inspired today by the below hairstyle- I used to wear my hair in a high bun all the time!
I'm sorry for my lack of posting, I hope soon that my house will stop being renovated, and I can have a lovely new room to show you---I've collected all these pictures of amazing rooms, I think I may do a blog on it! I also want to blog about some of the amazing things I have gotten of late. The other day I bought a lovely long sleeved, white polka dot dress, a la, Tennessee Thomas and I got a wonderful Secret Squirrel navy peacoat!

outfit #2

T o d a y ' s
O u t f i t

I know, it has been forever since I have done an outfit post, and that makes me sad as I really love reading fashion blogs who do regular outfit posts. It really gives you a sense of the bloggers personality, and I find it so interesting reading about bloggers' inspirations then seeing them put it to play in an outfit post. I do find it hard to do outfit posts though, I am always looking for the perfect backdrop, and as my house is still (heavily) a construction site, it is difficult. On top of that I feel like such a dork posing for pictures!
Today I managed to sneak into the back lane to take a few pictures of what I wore today to a lovely french cafe for lunch with my mum + dad.

The dress is Cream on King st. Shoes are vintage. necklace is home made. Bracelets are from an indian market in Newtown (one of the many)

c r y s t a l s !

C r y s t a l s ...!
(my pendant. photo:me)
I have been pretty inspired by crystals recently. I have never, ever been one to shy away from shiny gemstones...in fact when I was about nine I had a gemstone collection in a little shiny blue box that I painted and threw silver glitter all over (is that nerdy? a gemstone collection? oh no). I had quarts in various colors, turquoises, cubic zirconia, moon stones and my favourite, Amethyst.
Thanks to the likes of Mui Mui, my new header (scroll up.) and Lisa Mitchell's new video for "Oh! Hark" (which I have been watching repeatedly...even if you don't like her -i do- you have to admit that the girls' got style), I have been on the search for a tear dropped shaped crystal that I could turn into a pendant.

On Saturday, at the market (is it just me or do all my blog posts these days mention 'at the market'?) I came across a lady who was selling chandeliers. When I asked her if she ever sold the crystals that had fallen off, she pulled out a whole box for me to choose from. Now I have my crystal pendant!

Clog o' clock

N e w (ugly to the point of greatness) S h o e s !

A couple of weeks ago I did a post about clogs, and my new found love for sandal-ed clogs.
A couple of months ago I did a post about my deep love for wedged shoes.
---On Sunday when I went to a random markets near Luna Park ( that I stumbled upon completely by accident! Best accident ever!) I found a pair of shoes that are a blend of both!
I love, love, love them!!
I can't wait to wear some thick grey socks or some grey or heart-print stockings with them! I wore them around the house the other day and they are majorly comfortable. These would look just amazing with a chambray dress and those grey socks I think!
Oh, and did I mention I got them for $5??♥ ♥ ♥

sort of like an outfit post---

* * *
A tad random, but a post nevertheless! Today I truly had the most lovely day,
I drove to Rozelle markets with my momma. I work at Rozelle of a Saturday, at a lovely vintage fashion boutique called Mint Condition and I usually venture over to the markets on my break...but I think the Sunday stalls are much better!
I went there today with intention of buying these two vintage prints (they were beautiful framed paitings of this house on a river, with the first picture being the house at Autumn and the other in the spring) that I saw on saturday, but the stall wasn't there today!
So I bought other things. I got this amazing whale ornament for my new room!

It's so cute! They are actually salt + pepper shakers, but I will just use them as little friends on my desk.
I also bought a lovely vintage dress, some amazing shoes, a carpet bag (which I got for free with the purchase of ....)
My teddy! ♥

this form of night garment is called a "teddy". It's a one piece pretty thing from the 70's...I love it! I am still wearing it right now actually. It has such feminine and delicate lace, it looks like it belongs in an editorial in Lula, with some spotted knee highs!
So all in all it was a really lovely day, topped off by my listening to Pheonix and Maurice Chevailer all afternoon and drinking momma Nilsson's home made mango ice tea.
au revoir! ♥

hello, dolly.

A n o u t f i t p o s t !

Yesterday I went to a lovely dinner for Kate's eighteenth. I wore this!
It's a 70's dress that I got for about five dollars from Newtown market. It was a really lovely night. I am also wearing my mum's shoes from the eighties!
(p.s. sorry about bad quality of photos, they're just mac photos that I have upped the contrast as they were taken virtually in the dark!)
au revoir. ♥
